View Full Version : NHR: Prayers Needed

Please send your prayers to my family. My 80 year old aunt is missing. She went out hiking by her home on Sunday and has not been seen since. Family, friends and neighbours are all helping the police, and search and rescue but no sign has been found of her. They are not sure what could have happened to her. She may have gotten lost or something. They have found fresh cougar prints around and are not ruling that out. A neighbour also said that they saw her walking with a man and his dog that day, so the police are trying to find this man. It is all very upsetting. Please send prayers her way as with all the cold weather it is not looking like it will be a happy outcome if she is still out there. She is our matriarch; the glue that keeps everyone in touch and together.

We still have no news on my Aunt. My sisiter and her boyfriend are headed over tonite to help with the search. I am not able to and just feel so helpless. It is 5 days now that she is missing and the temperatures are dropping. They have said that there is only a 5% chance of her being alive if she was able to get to shelter. Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers and positive thoughts.

I have received the news that they have called off the search for my aunt. Every avenue has been looked at there have been no leads, no tracks, no nothing. They even had a psychic. Nothing. It has been 6 days and in this weather they see no point in continuing. The waiting and not knowing has been the worse. I guess that we must learn to live with not knowing. I feel horrible. She was a truly amazing woman.
I want to thank you all for your kind words and prayers.

Thank you for still thinking of us. We have had no news at all on my aunt. It has been just over 2 weeks since she dissapeared without a trace. The few family members that are able too are still looking but the search is pretty much been called off. We have given up all hope that she is still alive. It is now to just wanting closure. To be able to put her to rest with dignity. This has been terrible thing to happen to our family and I don't know how my cousins will cope during Christmas. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. My aunt was a devote born again Christian, so my one happy thought is that for her she is not suffering and is happy and well in the arms of her Lord.
What a sad thing to have happen, especially at this time of year.
You and your family will be in my thoughts.

Still nothing!!!! We know that there is no chance of a happy ending and are dealing with that. What we need is closure. A clue, a body, or better yet her turning up and saying "Oh, did I forget to tell you I was going to Mexico!!!". (sorry, we crack bad jokes at times of stress :o ). It is all so sad, but you just have to wonder how a 80 year old women can just disappear!!
Thank you for all your thought and prayers.

My heart is just breaking for you.
My mother is 87 and really losing it. Thank God she is now living with my sister and someone is with her 90% of the time. Although I realize that is no guarantee that she couldn't wander out at some time. Thankfully, she is pretty limited in her movements (not so thankfully because she has lung cancer).

I'm so terribly sorry ~ what a nightmare !
But, I'm in total agreement with you, that THE thing that matters the most is that she knows the Lord, and so no matter what, she'll be with Him forever and ever.
Now its just up to us to remember that this time, here, is just for a minute, just for a brief bit, and you can be reunited with her for all of eternity.
Be strong, and I pray you and yours will find some joy in this Christmas.

It has been nearly 11 months since my 80 year old aunt disappeared while out for a hike. We have had no news, leads, sightings or anything. The RCMP (police) have contacted my cousins and they are organising another search for her in the area they think she disappeared next weekend. The RCMP are bringing in lots of people, dogs, chainsaws, the works. They want to do another intense search of the area, gullies, streams, cliffs to try and find some clue to her disappearance. Please keep my family in your thoughts this weekend and pray that they find something. My family needs closure.

What prompted them to conduct another search? I hope they can find something to give your family closure and allow your aunt to rest in peace. I am so sorry for your loss. :(

Still have found nothing!!! My sister helped with the search again. She said that it was pretty rough going. They used large sticks to dig through chest-high ferns and look under logs and shrubs. Some of it was rough going, hiking down gullies where the trees were so rotten and fragile that they came loose in their hands, or they would take a step and the ground would disintegrate beneath their feet. A rib bone and a sock were found in different locations and are being sent for DNA testing by the RCMP. Thou if it was my Aunts you would think that there would be more bones around that area. They really went far off the trails this time searching as they believe that if she was in the forest the animals would have dragged her body there. They were only looking for clothing or bones. Very gruesome I know but at this point even bad news would be good news. At least they found something this time that might help or give some closure.
Thank you again for all your thoughts
