I just received this from Rain’s new owner and thought I would share. It isn’t the best news but at least she is keeping me up to date.

Just a quick update. Rain is sick, yesterday she had a 103.9 temp. The vet
was up to see her and gave her aspirin for yesterday and today. She has some
lovely yellow crap coming out of her nose and she has a cough. They think it
is a virus and want to let it talk its course. If she is still junky
tomorrow then we start antibiotics. You failed to tell me she can be a
little stubborn especially when she is not feeling well. I have been taking
her for walks because she is not allow out with the other horse due to her
condition. She did not want to go back and boy did it take some work to get
her back. She finally started back on her feed today. She ate about half and
some treats but at least it was something. She also nibbled on some grass.
She still is a little punchy but she was happy to see me. Between the
trainer breaking her foot and Rain being sick we have not done a whole lot
yet, but we will get there. I'll keep you updated.

AWWW, the poor girl. It's good to know that her new owner is taking good care of her though. Sounds like she's a good mom.

Poor Rain :( What a crappy way to spend your first days at a new home, I'm glad her new mom is taking care of her :)

Well I'm glad she is keeping me posted. I'm sure it is just something that will pass but I feel sorry for Stacy. Getting a new horse, being excited about the training and then having to pay for the vet to come out in the first week and having the trainer break her foot (at least Rain didn't do that.) :D I'll keep updating the board as I hear from her and maybe, just maybe, I'll get her to post too. ;)

Ahh, that's too bad but it sounds like she'll be just fine and now you know she's in good hands. Its just a tiny little blip in their happy life together. ;)

I love rain and I am very happy to have her. It is just no fun having her sick. I think alot of the problems are her and I just getting to know one another. We went for a walk because she is not allowed with the other horses right now(with her cold). It was time to go back and she did not want to go. It is just going to take alittle time that is all. We will start train as soon as possible hopefully in about two weeks. Trainer up and walking then. I'll keep you update.

Do you think she picked up a big on the transport ?
I sure hope she gets to feeling better soon.

I have no idea Cols. There load was pretty full and what we vaccinate for here might not be what is being carried by next door (on the semi that is.) I'm guessing it's just a simple virus like the common cold we get and nothing serious.

Well, I hope so, anyway.
Sweet thing.
I hope you get pictures of her from her new owner.
How are you feeling about the whole thing, anyway ?

Well I'm glad that Rain's new mom loves her and is taking care of her. That long trip with strangers to a new home again probably was very stressful to her and made her more prone to get sick. No doubt she'll be fine and happy very soon. I'm so glad to see you will be able to keep us up to date. I sure would love if her new MOm joined us online too. :D

Here is an update on Rain.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you but it has been a
little crazy here. It has been just great. Rain will get her shot the end of this month. She is doing good and we are having a great time together. Can I ask you what kinda of treat you sent up with her and where can I get more. She by the way has been great with my kids. She is very gentle and kind with them. She is still alittle skiddish about new things, like deer but all in all doing just great.

Hi. Well we have been thru alot lately. Rain saw the dentist and had
three
teeth pulled. Two of them being impacted. I was there and let me tell
you it
was not fun but it was effecting her eating so it had to be done. She
did
great and was eating like a horse the next day. She was apparently in
alot
of pain and it was affecting her chewing. He also cleaned her teeth and
filed them down. There is one more tooth that needs to come out be
hopefully
it will come out on it's own.

If I get up there today I will try and send you a picture of her. She
has
lost her winter coat and she is looking just great. She still alittle
afraid
of the saddle but doing better. She is getting used the trails but
still
gets overwhelmed if there is too much going on around her. I think she
really like the stables and I know the people that take care of her
just
love her too. Thanks again for her she is so much fun and I love
getting to
know her. Well that is it for now. I will try and get you a picture
soon.

Yeah - I think it's cool. When I asked her about the scar on her head this was the reply:

Yeah you can still tell. She loves to have it rubbed and there is a
calcuim
deposit there. We got into a conversation about unicorns. She kinda has
a
very little horn. It is cool. The scare of her "arm stays pretty pink
and
you can only see that if you look hard. She is beautiful and I love her
very
much.

I always thought unicorns were so beautiful and majical. :)

Talk about making a positive out of something !
A unicorn !
That is so sweet.
I'm sorry to hear that she had to have that dentistry done.
I know Belle had 2 extractions and a float last year and it was pretty ugly. We did it at home, too, so I was there to hold her little head up !
I'm glad Rain was doing better right away.
They are so resiliant, these horses.
How cool that her new family keeps in touch with you !
Thanks for sharing with us !

I know it's been a while since I've posted to this. That's because I had not heard anything. I e-mailed Rain's owner sure to myself that she had sold her but to my surprise this is what she had to say.

Rain is fat and happy. I have been the one with issues. I got into a
car
accident in october and have had health issues ever since. The chemical
in
the air bag did some damage to my lungs. Still not quite right yet. I
however was up on here right before that and was not thrown. I have
alot of
work with her. She is still very nervous especially when there is alot
going
on around her. I have at time due to my health thought of selling her
but
for right now she is safe, sound and very happy.

Oh, this is too funny - just this morning I was thinking about Rain and wondering how she was doing and if you ever heard about her.

I'm glad she's doing well, I hope her new owner recovers from the car accident (pretty scary - I didn't know Air Bags could do that to you!!) so she can keep working with Rain.

Thanks for sharing!

I enjoyed reading back through the posts too, and enjoyed the update on Rain. Best wishes going out to her owner now, that her health returns after her accident. Sounds like she was really doing good with Rain. I hope she updates you again.

It's been over a year? Wow......

Glad to hear Rain is doing so well. So sorry for her owner's accident. Hopefully she'll be able to get her medical problems taken care of and will be able to start riding her in the not too distant future.

I think it's kind of funny too as I asked T just last week if you had said anything to her about Rain.
