Prayer chain ;)

O.k. I know I mentioned something about starting up a prayer list, or forumn or something of that sort a short while ago, and alot of people seemed interested in that sooo, I am thinking what I will do, if it is o.k. with the mods. is that I will start this thread today and hopefully we can keep getting it bumped up so it will be an on going thing.

My idea is pretty simple, really. Anyone who is interested in submitting a prayer request can enter it on this thread. Anyone who is interested can check out this thread as often as they like and pray, or the equivalent according to your personal religious beliefs. Also If you have submitted a prayer request and have had it answered It would be great to share those on here to so we have praise reports to. Prayers can be typed in if you would like, or you can just pray on your own, at home. Which ever way anyone feels more comfortable.

I hope all people from any sort of religious background will participate! No one is Exempt from leaving prayer requests or for praying for anyone on this board.

If anyone wants to p.m. me or e-mail me about any concern they have about this please feel free to do so. cowboys_mom.

P.S. I will start in a new thread.

Continuing my prayers for Kayla. I would also like for people to pray for my dad, he is back in the hospital. The ER at first thought he had a heart attack, but luckily he did not. His heart is beating too fast & they have him on meds to slow his heart down.

Thank you Cowboy's Mom for starting this thread.

I'm going to use it tonight for a "Praise the Lord". Our 6 year old & I went for a bike ride tonight. We try to ride everyday. Our David is 6 and due to some balance issues he still has training wheels on his bike. Anyway, before we left he put on his helmet & was ready to go. We were riding down our dead end road, he was looking off at one pasture to see if the deer were out yet but he was headed for the ditch! So I said (not yelled, he wasn't startled) "David watch were you're going." He over-corrected & wiped out. It looked more like he just tipped over than wiped-out. Both knees were a bit skinned but no other visible injuries. We got back on bikes & road home to clean knees. Well, we got home, wiped off his knees, then took off the helmet. The child has a bruise on his forhead. The "forehead" of this helmet has small stones in it & black marks from the road. His head must have hit the road. Given the way he tipped I'm thinking that his head actually hit the road before the rest of his body or bike. I can't, and don't want to, imagine what his poor little forehead would be like if he hadn't had his helmet on. So, we are very thankful and are praising the Lord! This little guy has enough to deal with already with seizures and PDD.

Thanks for letting me share our Praise. God is so good & does look out for us!

Zar, I will agree with you in prayer that you will be able to find a job that wil allow you to be able to attend school.

E. C. Also in agreement with you with your list of prayer requests you and Kathy are on my heart and I believe that God has special plans for you to meet your needs and your dreams

Pat, Praise God, that your son was wearing his helment! no matter what the sport, if there is protective gear available it is definetly necessary to use it! Your son could have been very badly injured if it wasn't for his gaurdian angel and his bike helmet. :)

I also stand in agreement for all the prayer requests that have been listed thus far! I believe that as we come together in prayer, there is more power in numbers and God is going to move mightily on our behalves! Lets just lift up our prayer requests and then sit back and watch what the Lord is going to do for us! :D

I’m bumping this up because I think it was such a good idea. I hope all who had previous prayer requests are doing well and I have a special favor to ask.

Over the last 16 years I’ve had problems with Macular Degeneration. I’ve had laser surgery to cauterize leaking blood vessels – twice in my left eye and once in my right. I’ve only got 20/200 vision in my right eye due to scar tissue from the surgery. My left eye is correctable to 20/40 since the scar tissue in that eye is a little off center whereas the right eye has scarring right in the center of my field of vision. Anyway, long story short – it is happening again in my right eye. The question this time is do nothing and if it gets worse I will loose what little vision I have in that eye or have the “new and improved” treatment. They no longer are using lasers to cauterize the blood vessels. They inject a drug (yes, inject into the eye) that kills the invasive cells that form new blood vessels. The drug was actually manufactured to treat colon cancer but is being used with much success to treat Macular Degeneration.

Anyway, I’ve decided to have the series of treatments to preserve what little vision I have left in that eye. I’m scared to death of the injections as I really don’t do well with needles. I’m still waiting to hear from the Dr. to find out when they can schedule the first one. He wants to do at least two and see if there is any improvement and then decide if we will do more. I hate to be such a big baby about this, but boy could I use some prayers and strength to get through this. This on top of losing my job, not making enough at my new job to pay the mortgage and not finding a second job. Geez, when will it end?????
:(

My requests aren't as dire...and may seem a little unimportant compared to some others...but I also know that God answers all prayers big or small.

I've been having a rough go at it lately. At the beginning of the summer, my dad was diagnosed with depression. He's doing a bit better....but prayers would be great to get him back to his normal self.

I broke it off with my boyfriend of the last 6 months. I know I made the right decision, but it's as if he dropped off the face of the earth. It's hard to not have him around as he's been there for me since December (we didn't start dating until February). It's almost as though he didn't really care for me as much as he said he did....that hurts.

My best friend of 14 years decided to up and ditch me just because she didn't really like the aforementioned boyfriend. She took 3 of my other friends with her. How did she do this? Lies. That's what her life is about....lies. It's sad really.

I've just been feeling totally alone lately. Thankfully, I've got one really awesome friend who has stuck by me...as well as family and church family. It's still hard being 22 and feeling as though you'll never find that 'one'. I thought I had...and then he was killed in a terrible accident. I also feel constantly betrayed by everyone around me. People tell me they love me and will always be there for me and at the drop of a hat, they're gone.

And lastly....my horse. Just pray that he continues to get better. He had a terrible hoof crack that was making him lame. He's now been 'fixed' and is getting better. I just want him to continue on that path!

I like this idea of a prayer list. It's an awesome thing to have!

Lola - I'll be praying for you. Two of my relatives have macular degeneration as well, unfortunately they live in a rural area that's not too up with the times, neither one has had any kind of procedure done, so one is virtually blind and the other is headed that way. I had LASIK done 8 years ago, I was scared to death of having somebody mess around with my eyes, they gave me a Valium beforehand which really helped (I don't usually recommend drugs, but sometimes they are very useful). Anyway, I'll pray for a steady hand for your doctor, good results and calmness for you!

Nevada Silk- your problems aren't too small! It's really hard to feel so isolated. Just try to focus on the ones who are still there and let the ones who are gone, go. I'll be praying for you, your horse, and your Dad, I hope all 3 of you get to feeling better soon!

Lola – I hope the treatments work and you find a better job.

Nevada Silk – I hope things get better for you and your family. I can so totally relate, my dad’s health hasn’t been really good lately & he became depressed. He is now doing much better, I hope your dad responds to his treatment. I have also had “friends” who lied about me, believe me they aren’t really friends, you can and will do better! I hope your horses hoof grows out & he gets better.

First let me say thank you for bumping up this thread! I thought that maybe people got tired of it or something since it was used alot at first, and then kinda was forgotten about! I always love praying for all of my friends. ;)

Lola, Please don't think you are being a "baby" about this treatment that you are getting ready to have done to your eye. First there isn't one person that can tell you the "proper" way to feel at any one time, much less when you are going to have needles stuck in your eye  I can't imagine how I would feel about the thought of loosing my vision, much less having to face that kind of treatment.

You are certainly going to be in my prayers. I would ask that you keep us updated on your circumstances.

Nevada, I agree with Jb there aren't any small problems. When we are going through anything, it is huge to us. Have you ever noticed that when something is happening in your life it tends to consume your entire thought pattern, because it really matters to you. If it really matters to you, then by all means you need to bring it to your "friends" here on the board so we can agree with you in prayer. ;)

As far as being 22 and not hooked up with the "right one" You have your whole life ahead of you. (bet you haven't heard that before) But I really believe that God has that perfect person for each of us. The first time I got married it was out of God's will and it only lasted for 7 years. (should have ended long before that but I was stubborn) This time I married the one God had for me and we are very much in love for the past 9 years. I only wish that I hadn't "rushed" into the marriage the first time.

I know A person who was praying for a husband. She litterally bought a pair of mans jeans in the size that she wanted her future husband to be. :D And don't you know, it was just like God, that when she met her husband, he had a pair of "perfect" fitting jeans already at her house! How cool is that!

If your so called "friends" left you because they didn't like your boyfriend, or they listened to lies told by another so called friend. I wouldn't want to call them friends anyway. Yes, it is hard to loose friends. Been there done that a few times. And I soon came to realize the ones that walked out on me where not what I thought they were to begin with.

I might suggest that you keep plugged into your church and the activities that they offer. completely submerge yourself into the things, and activities that you love the most, including God! And then, I think that long before you realize it you won't have the time to be lonely, and that Mr. Right will be seeking you out.

I will certainly be lifting up your needs in prayer, and waiting to rejoice with you in the answers to your prayer requests. ;)

I wanted to take an extra moment to share an awesome answer to prayer.

My closest friend "K" has an adult daughter, who I will call "c". "C" called me the other day near tears looking for her mom. Thought "K" wasn't here I asked "c" if there was something wrong, or anything I could do to help her.
"c" continued to tell me that she had a special ring that was given to her on her 16th birthday by her grandpa and her aunt. This ring had a ruby stone in the center. "C" wears this ring all the time. That day, after coming home from the store "c" noticed the ruby was missing from her ring  Not only had "c" been up town shopping, but she has 2 children of her own, plus 2 or 3 others that she watches. That ruby literally could be anywhere at that point.

"C" worked all day going through the house searching for the ruby. But to no avail.

After listening to her, I gave "C" some advice that I could think of about finding out if the "set" on the ruby had a guarantee. But then I told her that I would pray that God would restore that ruby to her. Somehow, somewhere, someway, I believed that the ruby was going to be found.

As soon as "K" got home from work she got the message about "C" and the missing ruby. She too instantly began to pray for the resotration of the ruby. She went over to "c's" house and again, prayed with "c", this time about the resotration of that stone. As an understatement, "c" was completely upset and went to sit at the kitchen table for a moment. She looked down and there by the leg of the table sat the ruby from her ring :D

How awesome is that! Talk about a great God! he stored what was lost!

Just wanted to share that praise report!

I have a few requests of my own, I hadn't seen this thread before.

1~ Justin, my boyfriend, has a job interview on Saturday morning. Please pray that he gets the job

2~ I am going to an interview (second actually, first was a phone interview) for a saddle company that is branching out. I will be a sales rep and possibly end up running the entire department if I do well. Please pray that I get this job.

3~ I am going to look at a rescue mare that I might bring home with us. She is a little lame in the front and she might be pregnant. Please pray that I can bring her home and help her heal and that she will make a great new addition to our family.

4~ Please pray that my health gets better and stays better. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I don't want to work through it any longer, I just want to be well and energized like those around me.

I will keep all of you in my prayers as well.

I have a question rather than prayer at this moment. How do you know if your prayers are being answered? I have people all over the country, and people all around me here locally praying for me and my cancer. Because I am still alive and able to work and function normally does that mean my prayers are answered? Considering the prayers are for healing, remission, to beat this disease.......that doesnt seem to be happening. I am starting to get pretty angry with the whole situation, and am not sure how to control that. I am not sure if I should continue to ask for prayers. Am I right to be angry? I am not necassarily angry at God, just angry. I mean, like I said, I AM still alive. I have that to be thankful for. I am not bedridden. I can still work. I can still ride.

Just kinda thinking out loud here.........

Trying to find some good in my situation.

jumpinghorses
08-31-2006, 02:33 PM
Anger in your situation is normal and healthy. If you didn't get angry over it I would be more worried. You may want to try considering that this is what was chosen when you and God (yes, I believe it is a partnership) laid out the plan for your life. Perhaps there is something your soul wants to learn from the experience. That doesn't mean it is the end, just a lesson. It is hard to think that the bad things have a lesson in them or that we would have chosen them before we came here but there is some comfort in it once you accept it. Anyway, I don't know if that goes against your religious beliefs or not it was just a thought.

I will continue to pray for you.

justbcos
08-31-2006, 02:34 PM
Hey Melissa - that's a good, thought-provoking question. In truth, each and every one of our prayers is answered, it just may not be the answer we wanted. God answers each one "Yes", "No" or "Not now". So, in your situation, you may just not know yet which answer you're getting, nor why.

I don't think anybody (including God) thinks less of you for getting angry. Heck, you didn't ask for this trouble, you still have lots to give to the world, and lots to experience, it isn't fair! You could scream it from the rooftops. But somehow, some way, there is a reason, it is just to much for us to see and understand right now.

Just my 2 cents...

Mellissa,
don't fret over being angry about your health problems. Anger is a natural reaction to things that happen to us that we don't like.

I would like to share a story with you, I hope it is o.k

About 10 years ago I was diagnosed with a desmoid tumour in my abdomen! At that time I was only 25 years old and had a 4 year old child, and was a single mom. I was very active in my church, prayed faithfully for healing. Believed that I was going to be healed, that I would not have to go through surgery to have that tumour removed. I believed 100% that God was going to shrink that tomour and that the Dr.'s would not have to opperate to remove it. WEll, long, long story short as possible, After trying a couple of different treatments to "shrink" this tomour, all that managed to happen was the tumour grew! Surgery was scheduled and I was devestated. Totally and completely devestated. My pastor offered to do hospital visitation for me (which meant he had to drive 4 hours one way to get to where I was) I didn't want to see him (His wife was my best friend at the time) He came anyway (he knew me better than I did at the time) The Dr's gave me a 50/50 chance of coming out of the surgery at all. All the medical reports were nothing but bad on where the things was attached and what they were going to have to do to get it out. But I still didn't think they were going to have to do surgery, right up until the time they took me into the O.R.
When I questioned my pastor about it, and after the surgery I found out the true meaning to the answer to my prayers. Though they were not what I thought I needed. God did heal me, but not the way I thought he should. I thought he should just shrink the tumour and that would end everything. God had it planned for me to go through that surgery because He knew that it was going to be a witness to several people. First of all, we prayed before going into surgery and there was a nurse who doesn't believe in God that was working in the o.r. that day, she questioned the surgeon, these are her words "what is different in this room today" Surgeon replied, "different how? Nurse "the atmosphere seems different. Surgeon explained that we had just prayed and the nurse asked to be excused from the surgery because she didn't believe in prayer. But the witness was there, SHE noticed the difference. Secondly, the reports all said how bad the thing was attached to my insides, It was just like takeing out a baby c-section style. according to my surgeon, the surgery was expected to take 8-10 hours, I was in recovery 4 hours later. Later when I was recoverying my room mate asked me If I would say the sinners prayer with her, of course, you know I did.
If God would have answered the prayers the way I thought it should be answered there are several people that I would not have had the chance to witness to. He still gets all the Glory for the fact that I didn't die through all I have been through since 1995! His ways are Higher than our Ways! That is the hardest thing to remember, but it is ohhh soo true.

sorry this was so long, but I hope it helped. Don't give up. God has a plan for your life. Just keep remembering to Love HIM with your whole heart and He will be with you through everything! :)

We all need to remind ourselves from time to time that our prayers get answered. When we don't see the results of our prayers as quickly as we think we should, sometimes we tend to get discouraged, that is normal, we are human after all.

I will continue to keep you uplifted in prayer. ;)

Well, I have had another first in my life! My hubby and I, and our friend all went to a horse auction. That was definetly an expierence I won't forget very soon. I felt sooo bad for soo many of the horses there, they looked so sad! Some were injured, cut fetlocks, and such, some were scarred to death. I wanted to buy one, anyone, soooo badly. I even had money with me enough that I probably could have done that, however, my trainer was there and her and I looked through the horses that were available and she didn't see any that she felt was a "perfect match" for me. Taking all things into consideration, my expierence, my health issues, (due to my leg may have difficult time mounting taller horses),and my weight, (I don't want to feel like an elephant on a mouse) but even more importantly most, if not all of the horses there, that she thought may work for me had some sort of physical problem.

So, I will be patient, and wait til God brings my "perfect Horse" into my life.

I mean after all, I do have cowboy, and his training is coming all great, really. However, my trainer and I have been talking and because I have not ridden a horse since I was a teenager and I am looking for a horse that would be a bit older than cowboy, and really mellow, for me to learn on.

Cowboy's Mon, I would advise to NOT buy a horse from an auction (unless it is a registered horse auction where the horses come with some kind of guarantee). This is truly a byer beware situation where the horse you buy will more than likely have health and/or training problems. Very few horses go to a general auction without cause. They will be on pain meds, they'll be tranq'd, they will be ill.

Melissa & Julie, keeping both you in my prayers! Melissa, I hope this next surgery & chemo goes well for you.

Just wanted to put my 2 cents in about the auction. I bought a horse from an auction for $475. It was a Belgian. He was 27...bad teeth...arthritis...long feet which you could not touch...loved to kick. I bought him as a rescue as the only other buyers looking at him were the 'killers'. I loved the horse to death....he would have been such a good boy if years of abuse hadn't ruined him. However he ended up costing me $500 in vet bills after he choked. And even when tranq'ed you couldn't trim his hind feet. Wasn't possible. I ended up giving him to a farrier/preacher that specialized in draft horses and wanted a draft to practice on as well as babysit his yearlings. Tiny worked out great for that. He was a wonderful companion.

Praise time! My best friend was in a terrible car accident on Wednesday. She was on her way to my house so we could ride to church together (we both live about 40 minutes away from where we go to church and like to carpool). Anyway, as she was sitting at the redlight getting ready to head toward my small town....a truck (F-150) going about 60 rear-ended her. She was sitting still in a Saturn. Thankfully, she didn't see it coming (had just looked down to dial my number on her phone as she was running a little late) or she would have braced and broken something. She walked away from that accident with a very very mild concussion from hitting her head on the steering wheel. Her car is totaled. She was wearing her seatbelt...which helped. The truck hit her so hard that it scooted her car up about 15 feet into another car. I believe her guardian angel was there watching over her, for sure!

Bump.
I need to make a prayer request. We are planning on building a home for my mother in law, and in all the preperations my husband had an anxiety attack, his first ever and he didnt take it well. He needs peace in this situation, pray for his ability to lay this task in the hands of the Lord to guide him as he needs it.
Also, I start a new job tommorow. My first new job in 10 years. I didnt look for this job, it found me. I was offered to me by a wonderful friend of mine who is also a wonderful Chirstian woman. Its a perfect job for my situaition and is something I believe strongly in, so its a good match. Im just nervous. I have to teach two classes tommorow on breastfeeding at a local WIC office.
THanks in advance for prayer, and I will return the favor. I consider each of you a blessing yourselves, and I enjoy being able to come on here and share with you.

My prayer request is that the Lord will open a door for Kathy and provide a higher paying position with less stress. A position Kathy will like. Kathy wants to make sure Chris a who is also a believer from Brazil will be replacing Kathy. Kathy has suspended looking for a job because of this. Kathy and Chris have become friends. Chris feels she would rather have Kathy around, because of Kathy's knowledge. Also for our finances that are real tight right now, to loosen up.
Praise. Evander is earning his keep being used as a lesson horse!
Kathleen a 12 year old girl is having her second lesson with Evander. Kathleen says Evander is fun and likes him a lot!

As I have been reading through many of our threads I have noticed that once again there are lots of prayer needs out there. Hey, what are family and friends for, so I thought I would "bump" this thread up once again, to make it easier on ourselves to keep track of all of our family and friends prayer needs.

Heavenly Father, I am lifting up each and everyone of my friends on this board that are in need in a special touch from your loving hands. BarnKitty, needs your touch as dose Noahs Ark. And EVERYONE who has requested prayers. Open doors to those who need new jobs, Heal all those who need the healing balm of gillead to flow over their bodies, Peace to those who have lost family members or friends, I request peace beyond all understanding.

Father, you love each and everyone of us, all are created equal, in your image.

Amen

prayers, peace and healing to all. :)

Cowboy's Mom,
I was just thinking this morning about bumping this up. Thank you for doing it. :)

I'm hoping for a new job (one that pays enough to make my mortgage payment), but I also want to offer a prayer of thanks for everything God has given me. Even the "mountains so I can learn how to climb". And to ask Him to teach me to love others as He loves all of us and forgive those who have hurt us as He forgives.

What an awesome prayer, yes, sometimes we forget to give thanks even for the difficult times in our lives that they do teach us things we need to know, even though the lessons may not be as fun as when we are walking through the valleys and playing in the flowers!

I will be remembering your request for a new job in my prayers along with the other many requests that have been added to this thread.

Jesus knows the needs of our hearts even before we mention them! Every need has already been fulfilled through the cross of calvery! How awesome is that! ;)
