Ginger!
We will be picking her up on Sunday. She was saved from slaughter at last weeks auction by a very nice gal and now she will be ours. She is a bit off in the front but with feet as bad as hers you would be too. She is young and the people that sold her said she may be pregnant. We already have an appointment for her feet and she will be wormed and such soon too. My oldest even handled her tonight and did just fine with her. Sorry the pics aren't very good. She has a few conformation issues but again, some of that could be coming from her horrible feet. She has almost non-existant heels in the back and long ones in the front. We are more than happy to have her joining our family.

Wow! She is drop dead gorgeous - why in the world would someone send her (or any other) to slaughter?????
I am very honored to be named after such a beautiful lady!
Congrats to you and Ginger and hope for a very happy relationship together! More pics!

Thanks guys. She was a little antsy when we first got there but she had been in a stall all day because one of the other horses broke the pasture fence. After she had been out for a few minutes she settled down. A week or so with me and her ground manners will start to form up well, I don't like to let them get away with anything. If all goes well Cierra and I will be showing her a little next year. She toes out a little in the front but with her feet being so bad it is hard to tell if that is because of the lack of foot care or not, we'll see. She is a lovely lady and young. Looked at her teeth and she is probably anywhere from 5 to 10. She has no groove starting but her teeth aren't really short either. It always amazes me at the horses that people throw away. I thank "J" for bidding on her and taking her home long enough to find us. She was self-less and that is a great thing. I hope to keep in touch with all these girls, we spent over 3 hours there talking and Cierra was playing with the other kids there. So, not only did we gain a new family member we may have found some new horsey friends that will be great fun to ride and show with. It was a very good day yesterday.
She's very pretty.
I LOVE those red horses...always wanted one....not yet...
I'm happy that she found you.
She has a lovely name ! ;)

I think she's very pretty, I like the way she's built - her feet do look funny, but I'll bet you're right, with some care they will improve. Her head is very nice, she looks like she has very intelligent eyes, and soft too. I'll bet she'll be a doll to work with.
I'm so glad you rescued her! I'm looking forward to hearing lots of good stories about her progress!

She is at the barn but I didn't have the camera with me. It took less than 1 minute to load her and she rode fairly quietly, only stomping when we stopped and even then only for a second. She did jump out of the trailer when we arrived at the barn and had a couple of nicks from the ride since I didn't wrap her (didn't know her well enough to do it). We put her away in between two very lovely boys, one of my training horses and one of the barn owners horses, and they both thought she was "da bomb". They were flirting like crazy. She didn't want anything to do with it, she was clearly telling them to back off. The barn owners weren't there but they had left some hay in her feeder for her. I fly sprayed her and that began our first lesson/training session. She did the texas two step everytime I sprayed her legs. She picked up on it pretty quickly though. I will take more pics within a couple of weeks so you can see her progress. I will probably even start a training journal for her.
